Accommodation
Even with most of Europe travelling to Portugal for Euro2004,
you are still strongly advised to book ahead.
The closest hotel is Travelodge's City Hotel.
(

Or call Travelodge Reservation Centre on (0)8700 850 950.
Also Tower Hotel in St Catherine's Docks next to Tower Bridge
(www.thistlehotels.com/tower).
Toynbee Hall is on the edge of the City of
London and is located in Spitalfields - London's new Soho
district, so the immediate area is not 'preisgünstig'.
Alternatives include choosing one of the many hotels around
Bloomsbury and travelling on the Central Line to Liverpool
St. Islington is not far away and has a new Stakis hotel on
Upper Street (
www.hotel-booker.com/london/islington.html ). Prices drop
the further east the hotel. There are more Travelodges, Etap
and Formule 1 at London Docklands and at Barking - take the
District Line tube to Aldgate East (
http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/).
Quite decent is the YMCA in the City of London,
not too far away at Fann
St EC2. Tel 020 7628 0697.
London House, also called Goodenough College, is often used
by visiting
London University academics. It's quiet and in Bloomsbury
but more
expensive. Tel.(020) 7837 8888. London Ho, Mecklenburgh Sq,
London
WC1N 2AB.
There might be a few rooms available in local
student halls of residence. Contact conference organisers
nearer the date of conference, after Easter.
